Website hosting and server logs

For delivery, security, error analysis and misuse prevention, the hosting system may process the IP address, date and time, requested file, transferred data volume, referrer, browser and operating system. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data is normally deleted within seven days unless an incident requires longer evidence retention.

Local browser settings

The site does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It stores only interface preferences such as the collapsed navigation bar, selected panel and table layout in the browser. These values remain on the device and are required to provide the expressly selected interface functions.

External links and PayPal

No data is sent to the Minor Planet Center, Wikipedia or PayPal merely by displaying these pages. When you activate an external link, the destination provider receives the normal connection data and applies its own privacy policy. PayPal processes donation payment data as an independent provider.

Email, newsletter and supporter publication

Email data is processed to answer an inquiry or, where applicable, to take pre-contractual steps under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Newsletter addresses and supporter publication are processed only with consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Data is deleted when its purpose ends unless legal retention duties or an unresolved matter require longer storage.

Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and data portability, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent with effect for the future. You may also lodge a complaint with the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD).
